D-28 Looking for a real cannon and a piece of history at the same time? This guitar has everything. Purchased new by the late Charles Sawtelle of the band HotRize. After Charles' passing it was played on the road by Peter Rowan an amazing artist & song writer. There has been some amazing custom work done to this banjo killer the setup makes it play like a strat. scale length of 25-1/4",The soundhole on it has been enlarged to 4-9/16", ivoroid/black/ivoroid binding on the fingerboard, And a real Dalmatian tortoise shell pickguard.'very rare.'Also vintage-oval 1930s knob shape tuners made by waverly like the legendary Martin D-28 played by Clarence White and Tony Rice. And also added a Fishman Acoustic Matrix microphone pickup. I also have a signed letter showing previous ownership and pictures of Tony Rice playing it. This guitar is amazing and needs to be played by a pro. my husband was a bluegrass picker and this guitar fit his pickin style well. I had it appraised by George Gruhn during the I.B.M.A. this year and he said the guitar should bring between $4,500 & $5,500 because of the history and condition of it.
