Karl Sandoval is a luthier who had worked for Charvel guitars quit to become a self employed luthier. Karl has made custom guitars for Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony, Tracy G. (Dio), Rusty Anderson (Paul McCartney), Billy Gibbons, Lita Ford, Daron Malakian and others. Karl is most famous for building Randy Rhoads' Polka Dot V. This bass is the first custom designed bass that Karl Sandoval ever made (1989-1990). It is a 4 string fretless bass, the wood is maple thru-neck with a rare solid Koa wood body. I took it back to Karl to re-string and to make any repairs needed (none were needed and I only put new strings on it). He fondly remembers making this bass and customizing it for the original owner from his original design, which resulted in another original design. Karl himself indicated to me that this was his first originally designed custom bass. This is truly a one-of-a-kind bass and it is the only one existing in the world (no kidding), not another one like it. This is a truly collectible piece for sure. The pic below shows Karl (holding the bass) with me at his custom shop. I have a signed pic of Karl with the bass and a certificate of authenticity. More pics are available upon request. Karl says that this bass should fetch somewhere between $5-7.5k. I am asking $3500 for it.
